Doctor Sleep is an upcoming American Horror film directed by Mike Flanagan and written by Stephen King, Mike Flanagan. "Doctor Sleep" is the name of the film that continues the story of ‘The Shining’ Stephen King’s book that gave title to the first part of the story in 1980 directed by Stanley Kubrick. The sequel, titled ‘Doctor Dream’ is the continuation of the story of Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) 40 years later, of his overwhelming and terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel. Danny, already an adult, struggles with his alcoholism, a condition that has made him a lonely man, resides in a small town in New Hampshire, working in a nursing home. There he uses his mental ability called "glow" to provide comfort to the dying. Danny, meets a cult that feeds on the essence of children who have the same psychic powers and looks again at the darkness and his aged face, reflects the passage of time, between mirrors.
The film stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and debutant Kyliegh Curran who bring this new supernatural thriller to life. The direction was in charge of Mike Flanagan ("The Curse of Hill House"), from his own script, based on the novel "Doctor Dream" by Stephen King. Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick as executive producers.
Principal photography commenced on May 13, 2018 in Syracuse, United States and concluded on September 10, 2019. The film is set for release on November 8, 2019.
